The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Johnson County in east central Kansas...
  Southwestern Jackson County in west central Missouri...

* Until 415 AM CDT.

* At 1016 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. An additional 0.5 to 1 inch of rain is possible
  in the next hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, Lenexa,
  Leawood, Raytown, Grandview, Belton, Prairie Village, Gardner,
  Merriam, Mission, De Soto, Fairway, Mission Hills, Westwood and
  Westwood Hills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
