Not as hot today and Labor Day, then hot weather with widespread Moderate HeatRisk returns through the end of the week. && .Discussion... Skies remain clear and current temperatures are similar to 24 hours ago. IR difference imagery shows that stratus remains pretty sparse along the NorCal coast, however it is beginning to fill from the north and surface pressure gradients are slowly beginning to transition to onshore. The ridge over the area will weaken today and Labor Day as the closed low/trough presently near 40N/130W moves into far northwest California and southern Oregon. Appreciable cooling will develop in the Central Valley today as onshore flow picks up, and will spread further inland on Labor Day as synoptic cooling associated with the trough takes hold. Highs will be near to slightly below average. Ridging quickly rebounds beginning Tuesday marking the beginning of another warming trend. A period of breezy north wind will be possible Tuesday as the trough shifts east leading to elevated fire weather concerns in the Sacramento Valley. By Wednesday, probabilities of exceeding 100 degrees increase to above 70 percent through most of the Central Valley. && .EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Thursday THROUGH Sunday)...
