FXUS65 KGGW 192007 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 207 PM MDT Fri Jul 19 2024 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - Isolated/scattered thunderstorms are again possible mainly late in the day Saturday mainly over the eastern zones. - Highs will be in the upper 80s or the 90s most of the time for the next several days. Some locations will have highs near 100 beginning the middle of next week, possibly 110 Thursday. - Haze from Canadian wildfires is expected to move into the area the next couple days. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Upper air pattern showing a strong upper ridge over the western states and provinces of Canada. A weak disturbance will bring another chance of late-day thunderstorms Saturday, with the best chance over the eastern zones. Then things remain nearly stationary into Tuesday. Then the upper ridge intensifies over the area by the middle of next week as an upper low moves into British Columbia. This will push the mercury up over the century mark as a SW upper flow develops. Right now, NBM 90 Percentile is giving some areas 110 for highs on Thursday. This will require Heat headlines if this materializes. Stay tuned. Beyond this, the upper low weakens as it moves east so no significant cool down is expected and low level westerly flow will push instability/humidity over to the Dakotas. TFJ FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High confidence of the ridge intensifying early next week with highs in the 90s most of the time and some areas near 100 Wednesday and Thursday. Confidence in the specific location and timing of any thunderstorms is low to medium at this point. && .AVIATION... FLIGHT CONDITION: VFR, brief MVFR with any heavy rainshowers. DISCUSSION: Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon are moving slowly, producing brief heavy downpours, and may contain gusty/erratic winds in their vicinities. Otherwise, thunderstorms will diminish this evening with light and variable winds expected into Saturday morning. Scattered thunderstorms can be expected again Saturday afternoon in a similar location to today. TFJ && .GGW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ weather.gov/glasgow
