KEY MESSAGES: - Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon in the east. Scattered thunderstorms are possible over all of NE Montana Saturday afternoon and evening. - Highs will be in the upper 80s or the 90s most of the time for the next several days. Some locations will have highs near 100 the middle of next week. - Scattered haze from Canadian wildfires is expected to sneak into the area the next couple days. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: A shortwave trough is bringing thunderstorms to parts of eastern Montana early this morning. That wave will exit the region by 15z this morning. Additional shortwaves this afternoon and again Saturday afternoon will combine with unstable airmass to bring more chances for thunderstorms. Thunderstorm chances this afternoon are 15-25% east and less than 10% west. For Saturday afternoon and evening, the thunderstorm chances are 20-30% west and 30-40% east. Upper ridge intensifies over the area Sunday and Monday and remains over the area all of next week with hot and mainly dry weather. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High confidence of the ridge intensifying early next week with highs in the 90s most of the time and some areas near 100 Wednesday and Thursday.
