.SYNOPSIS...
Night and morning low clouds will continue west of the mountains
this week. Warmer for Monday and Tuesday, followed by slight
cooling through the rest of the work week. Warmer by next weekend.

SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

At 1 PM, low clouds have diminished across central and northern
portions of San Diego County into southern Orange County, but
remain in San Diego proper and portions of inland Orange County.
Highs will run below normal today from the coast through the
mountains, and near to slightly above normal in the deserts.
Highs will reach the upper-60s at the coast, the 70s across the
inland valleys and mountains, the upper-70s to low-80s across the
inland Empire, near 90 degrees in the High Desert and the low-100s
in the lower deserts.

A very amplified pattern is visible on satellite imagery this
afternoon, with a strengthening trough approaching California and
a ridge building over the Four Corner region. Gusty west to
southwest winds will peak over the mountains and desert slopes
this afternoon and evening, with gusts of 35-55 mph expected.

Vorticity along the base of the trough will break off from the
mean flow and strengthen before parking off the coast of northern
Baja California through much of the upcoming week. This will help
to maintain a stout marine layer, with night and morning low
clouds west of the mountains each day, and patchy drizzle will be
possible tomorrow morning. High level moisture will result in
passing high clouds through at least Tuesday.

Slow warming develops tomorrow and Tuesday as a ridge builds to
the north and east of our region. Tuesday looks to be the warmest
day of the week, with highs 5-10 degrees above normal in the
deserts, resulting in moderate heat risk. West of the mountains
will continue to be moderated by the persistent marine layer.

The upper low becomes absorbed into the mean flow late this week,
resulting in a few degrees of cooling and increasing onshore
winds. Warmer by next weekend.

.AVIATION...
091950Z...Coast/Valleys...Areas within 5 miles of the coast in
southern San Diego County and portions of Orange County are slow to
scatter out this afternoon. A few hours of FEW-SCT coverage may
occur at the coasts between 21z Sun and 01z Mon. Low clouds will
quickly spread inland again tonight with similar cloud bases,
generally around 1500-2000 FT MSL, and will again reach most valleys
by 09Z Mon. Slightly earlier clearing for Monday, generally 15-17z
for inland valleys and 17-19z for the coasts.

Mountains/Deserts...FEW-SCT250 and unrestricted VIS through Mon
morning. Areas of W-NW winds with gusts 25-35 kt will occur again
22Z Sun-08Z Mon from the mountain crests east through the desert
slopes and into the adjacent deserts.
