The Tropical Storm Warning has been cancelled for Woleai. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended action for people on Yap, Ngulu, Ulithi, Fais, and Woleai in Yap State. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Ngulu, Ulithi, Fais in Yap State, Yap Proper and adjacent coastal waters. A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected within 24 hours. .STORM INFORMATION... At 100 AM CHST, the center of Tropical Storm Hagupit was located near Latitude 7.8 degrees North and Longitude 141.8 degrees East. Hagupit is moving west-northwest at 8 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course with a slight increase in forward speed through Saturday. Maximum sustained winds remain at 40 mph. Hagupit is forecast intensifying Saturday, remaining a tropical storm through the next few days. Hagupit is expected to reach peak intensity on Saturday and is less favored to become a strong tropical storm at this time. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 115 miles to the northeast, and 90 miles to the northwest. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Hagupit remains a weak Tropical Storm west of Woleai this morning. TS Hagupit continues to move west-northwest, as it pulls farther away from Woleai. Hagupit looks to maintain this west-northwest trek over the next few days, remaining at its current intensity through tonight before gradually intensifying Friday through Saturday. Hagupit is expected to remain a tropical storm the next few days, reaching peak intensity on Saturday as it passes between Yap and Ngulu. Hagupit has moved away from Woleai and Woleai is no longer in the probabilistic wind field. For this reason the Tropical Storm warning has been cancelled. While Woleai is out of the Tropical Storm wind field, it is in the monsoonal inflow. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected for the through at least this afternoon. As TS Hagupit continues its west-northwest trek through western Yap State, the wind field looks to expand slightly northward, and Fais and Ulithi are expected to see TS winds starting later this morning at Fais, and this afternoon for Ulithi, so a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for these locations. Tropical storm force winds are also expected for Ngulu and Yap, this evening and Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For those under a Warning, preparations should be rushed to completion if not already complete. Listen for possible warnings and be ready to evacuate or move to adequate shelter if your location is vulnerable to tropical storm conditions.
