NOUS41 KWBC 261520 PNSWSH Public Information Statement 26-23 National Weather Service Headquarters Silver Spring MD 1120 AM EDT Thu Mar 26 2026 To: Subscribers: -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency Managers Weather Information Network -NOAAPort Other NWS Partners, Users and Employees From: Debra Blondin Acting Director NCEP/Aviation Weather Center Subject: Soliciting Comments on Experimental Ceiling and Visibility Dashboard product through April 30, 2026 The National Weather Service (NWS) is soliciting user comments on the Aviation Weather Center’s (AWC) Ceiling and Visibility (C&V) Dashboard through April 30, 2026. The dashboard depicts onset and cessation time of impactful flight category, ceiling, and visibility information out to 36 hours for the Core 30 airports in the Contiguous United States (CONUS) and San Mateo Bridge, CA. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified a need for accurate and timely forecasts of onset and cessation times of Marginal Visual Flight Rules (MVFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) at airport terminals to support Traffic Flow Management (TFM) initiatives. To meet this need, the Terminal Weather Dashboard was used as a familiar template for the C&V Dashboard to display a time series of weather conditions at airport terminals. The C&V Dashboard provides Localized Aviation MOS Product (LAMP) text bulletin forecast data on an intuitive, quick-glance display for the CONUS Core 30 airports by default, with additional LAMP stations available to display through customizable capabilities. The dashboard provides forecasted deterministic ceiling, visibility, and flight category information out to 36 hours. The C&V information is available in 15-minute increments for the first 6 hours, providing users with detailed inter-hour data. A single site display feature allows the user to see the underlying probabilities that contribute to the deterministic forecast, providing insight into the forecast's uncertainty. The current experimental version of the dashboard can be found here: https://aviationweather.gov/cigvis/ Input on the C&V Dashboard is being sought from users via the feedback form below: Google Form: https://forms.gle/kWcMBscpDkGsJ4MZ9 If you have any questions regarding the dashboard, please contact: Stephanie Avey Science and Operations Officer Aviation Weather Center Kansas City, MO 64153 816-584-7268 Stephanie.Avey@noaa.gov or Nicole Starzec Science and Technology Infusion Meteorologist Aviation Weather Center Kansas City, MO 64153 816-584-7236 Nicole.E.Starzec@noaa.gov National Public Information Statements are online at: https://www.weather.gov/notification/
