High temperatures warming to around average for today and Friday, then cooler for the weekend with southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts gusting to 40 to 50 mph with isolated gusts to 65 mph. There is also a chance of showers for Saturday through early Sunday with the most likely time for showers on Saturday night. Warmer and dry with weaker winds for Monday, then another chance of showers around the middle of next week. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... .SHORT TERM (Today through Saturday)... A low pressure system off the California coast will move inland through central and southern California during the weekend. This will strengthen the onshore flow and bring cooling, stronger southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts, and a chance of showers from the coastal water to the mountains. High temperatures for inland areas will warm 5 to 10 degrees today with high temperatures around average for the mountains and deserts and a few degrees above average for the coast and valleys. High temperatures for today will range from around 70 near the coast to the mid 70s to lower 80s for the Inland Empire with the lower deserts in the upper 80s. Friday will be slightly cooler for the coast to the mountains and slightly warmer for the deserts. High temperatures on Saturday will be a few degrees cooler near the coast to 8 to 12 degrees cooler for inland areas with high temperatures as much as 10 to 15 degrees below average for the mountains. High temperatures on Saturday for the coast and valleys will be mostly in the 60s with the lower deserts in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Southwest to west winds will gust to 30 to 40 mph during the afternoon and evening for today and Friday, then strengthen to 40 to 50 mph for the weekend with isolated gusts to 65 mph. A low pressure system moving inland through central and southern California during the weekend will bring a chance of showers for Saturday through early Sunday with the most likely time for precipitation Saturday night with rainfall from the coast to the mountains ranging from less than one-tenth inch to around one- quarter inch.
